Chandigarh, October 5

Shiromani Akali Dal (US) chief Sukhbir Badal today asked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to explain why the Punjab government has allocated crores of rupees to advertise “Delhi’s failed education model in Gujarat” when Punjab has consistently been ranked higher than Delhi in three consecutive surveys. at the national level for school education.

Asserting that public funds cannot be wasted in this manner, the SAD chief demanded an immediate stop to all advertisements being run by the Punjab government in Gujarat to woo the electorate ahead of the Assembly elections.

“No government in the history of Punjab has made a mockery of itself in this way and hurt the pride and prestige of Punjab by using government funds to advertise the achievements of a second state in a third state for electoral rewards,” the SAD chief said.

The Akali leader said it was shocking that the Bhagwant Mann-led government was praising Aam Aadmi Party councilor Arvind Kejriwal in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh with advertisements worth several crores every day on social media. “The government has already spent several hundred crores on this exercise and has kept a budget of Rs 700 crore in the current financial year for this propaganda, which includes paid news,” he said.
