MOHALI: In an effort to provide the best civic amenities in Mohali, Punjab Housing and Urban Development minister Aman Arora on Saturday he ordered a series of measures aimed at increasing the road infrastructure and beautifying it Mohali to make it a ‘model city’ of Punjab.
Presiding over the meeting convened on the demand of local MLA Kulwant Singh for further improvement of road infra and other facilities, Aman Arora asked Gmada officials to come up with a plan to remove traffic bottlenecks on congested roads besides submitting a detailed survey report for widening and four lanes on three thoroughfares where the problem of traffic congestion prevails. The three paths include Cumbra Chowk (Separate Road Chav from Sector-61/70 and Sector-62/69) to Bawa White House, Mohali Village to YPS Chowk and Sector 62/63/50-51 Chowk to Sector 65/48 (Golf Range), he said.
The cabinet also asked the officials concerned to explore the possibility of constructing new roundabouts to ease traffic in the city. Special focus should be put on the beautification of this model city, he added.
The meeting also decided that GMADA will provide financial assistance to Municipal Corporation Mohali will buy four road sweepers to keep the city tidy and clean. He asked the officials to set up a facilities management service center in Aero City to maintain the infrastructure to provide the best possible facilities to the residents. He also made it clear to all the officials that violation of rules and laxity in duty will not be tolerated at any cost, while ordering to initiate anti-encroachment action against violators.
