Marvel Studios will take some extra time to refine his Lama functionality project.

In the wake of their split with director Bassam Tariq two weeks ago, the studio is pausing the vampire adventure thriller starring Oscar-winning Mahershala Ali. Marvel is temporarily shutting down production-related activities in Atlanta, where the project was to be shot starting in November, as it conducts the search for a director and develops the feature further.

Crew members were briefed on Tuesday, according to a source.

The studio hopes to restart production in early 2023. After the release of this story, Disney pushed Lama from the release date of November 3, 2023 to September 6, 2024, one of the many changes due to the film’s delay.

Lama he had seen his start of production change at least a couple of times as he underwent several rounds of script rewriting. When Tariq left the project, many thought a director would be brought in quickly so that production didn’t waste too much time. Lama was one of the most anticipated Marvel films since the studio announced the project with great fanfare at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019.
