Bangalore Byyappanahalli to Whitefield Metro to start trials soon

The Baiyyappanahalli-Whitefield section of the Namma Metro was scheduled to be completed by 2020. And open to the public until December 2022. But the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the plans. The 1.5 km long road faced huge delay. Nevertheless, the test charging of the cable network between the two stations will be carried out from October 15.

Bangalore Metro will conduct trial runs for at least 45 days from October 25. Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has revealed that the public will be able to travel on the metro line from January 2023, Times Now reported. The purple line connects Baiyappanahalli with Kengeri. It passes through major intersections like MG Road, Vidhan Soudha, Majestic etc.

Namma Metro expects 3 million passengers on the new section

This stretch of 13 stations connects the IT corridor in the eastern parts of the city. Bangalore Meto expects an additional ridership of 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh once the Baiyappanahalli-Whitefield Purple Line opens to the public. Additional workers will be sent to speed up the process.
