Chandigarh, September 30

In the Punjab assembly session on Friday, Leader of Opposition Partap Bajwa on Friday sought an assurance from CM Bhagwant Mann for action against government minister Fauja Singh Sari.

He said that the Prime Minister has not given any assurance to the House so far.

There was a heated argument between MLA Sukpal Khaira and Speaker Kulthar Sandwan. Kaira alleges discrimination saying he was not allowed to speak during Zero Hour.

As the Prime Minister rose to introduce the Awakening Commission bill, the opposition started a protest and demanded Sarari’s arrest. Congress MPs entered the well of the House.

Amid the ruckus in the House by the opposition over the demand for Sarari’s arrest, three bills – the Punjab Village Common Lands Amendment (Regulations) Bill, 2022, the Punjab State Vigilance Commission (Abolition) Bill, 2022 and the Punjab GST (Amendment) Bill, 2022 were passed.

The Speaker said that the Congress had betrayed the people of Punjab by creating disruption in the House. He said the House was supposed to work until 3:30 p.m., but the opposition failed to debate the bills.

CM Bhagwant Mann said that these same MLAs were working with “crooked CMs” as Captain Amarinder Singh was always a BJP man.

He was responding to the Congress for being a ‘promiscuous speaker’ against Speaker Kulthar Sandwan.

70 to 80 million rupees are spent every day to run the House, but the opposition spent two days, the Speaker said, adding that if they did not relent, he would be forced to take strict action against the opposition on Monday. .
